How the tracking works

On Android, Mona reads bank and UPI transaction alert SMS on the device and parses them locally. Messages are never uploaded — the parsing happens in the app, and the permission can be withdrawn at any time in Settings.

It also imports PDF, CSV and XLSX statements, and reads receipts through the camera, so nothing depends on SMS alone.

Common questions

Does Mona read all my SMS?

It reads the SMS inbox to find bank and UPI transaction alerts, and parses only those. Personal messages and OTPs are not used, nothing is uploaded, and the permission is optional — the app works fully without it.

Does UPI tracking work on iPhone?

No. Apple provides no API for reading SMS on iOS, so automatic SMS tracking is Android-only. On iOS you can still import statements and scan receipts.

Can Mona make UPI payments?

Mona opens your existing UPI app to complete a payment and records it — it never handles money itself and is not a payment provider.
