Why you can believe the privacy claim
Not a policy promise — a consequence of how the app is built.
- No backend serverThere is no copy of your data for anyone to hand over, sell, or lose.
- drive.file scope onlyGoogle permits Mona to touch only files it created. The rest of your Drive is invisible to it.
- No analytics SDKsThe app ships with no trackers and no ad libraries.
- Works fully offlineSync is optional. The app never needs a network to function.
What is actually different
The category of SMS-reading expense trackers in India is well established. The distinguishing question is where the parsed data ends up.
Mona parses on-device and stores on-device. There is no account to create, no server-side profile, and the only cloud involved is the Google Drive you already control. That also means no data to be sold, shared or lost, and no service that can be shut down and take your records with it.

Where it does not
Being honest about the trade: an app with no server cannot offer web access to your ledger, cross-device real-time sync without Drive, or automatic bank-feed reconciliation. If those matter more to you than data locality, a server-backed tracker is the better fit.

Common questions
Can I import my existing data?
You can import statements as PDF, CSV or XLSX, which covers most migrations. There is no direct importer for another app's export format.
Does Mona show ads?
No. There are no ads and no analytics SDKs in the app.
Is it available on iOS?
The vault, expenses, statements and receipt scanning work on iOS. Automatic SMS reading is Android-only, because iOS provides no API for it.
